I am looking at getting tesol certified in June or July of 2012 in Spain. I am an American who has dual citizenship with Ireland and a bachelors degree in public communications. I will not have any teaching experience besides the small amount received during certification. I have some questions for anyone who has experience with the TEFL market in Spain.
1.) Is Spain a good choice to get that first teaching position(s)?
2.) In terms of wages vs. cost of living (keep in mind I am not a big drinker and I don't plan on going out every night) is it possible for one to live a meagerly comfortable existence? I am in no way looking to live in the lap of luxury but I would like to eat two square meals a day.
3.) Does anybody have any positive experiences with a trinity or cambridge certified tesol course in Seville, Granada, or Valencia?
4.) Is it possible to save enough money during the school year to live off of during the summer? If not, is there any work to be found in Spain to sustain yourself during the summer months? (I am not fluent in Spanish.)
5.) I am looking to complete my tesol course at the end of July or beginning of August. How much money should I bring to sustain myself before I begin teaching in September or October?
6.) If Spain is not a good destination to attain your first tefl position, which European country would you recommend and why?
Thank You. |
