I am 26 and come from the u.k. but moved in the Netherlands for a couple of years when I was 22. I had already passed a diploma in mechanical engineering (2 years) in Northern Ireland and also studied for a HNC (higher national certificate) for another 2 years while working although I never completed it.
After I moved to the Netherlands I found out I could get onto the last year of a degree there (taught in English) with the previous study I did in N. Ireland and so my degree is from a Dutch college.
I recently did a weekend tefl course and hope to go to either Taiwan or South Korea after Summer but am now worried that my degree will not count for a visa as it may not be from an 'approved' university.
Does anyone know anything about this or know where I could find out about this?

You really don't even need a degree to work on Taiwan. Most people spend at least the early part of the time here working illegally. The only real prerequisite is that you are white and under 30. All other credentials are secondary.

How do I find out if the Dutch college I studied at is accredited?
It was not really a university but a technical college.

You may want to visit your local Taiwan representative office and ask them yourself. You may or may not be able to use the degree. If you can't, you can take a tesl diploma course and get a work visa using your two year diploma (some parts of Taiwan will accept this combination of credentials).

Amigo, I am an American with a Dutch graduate degree. No problem. Not a single question. My diploma is is Latin and Dutch with an English translation page, and my transcripts are all in Dutch.

The Ministry of Education certifed my degrees and gave me a national certificate of lectureship in Taiwan (certified to teach at any uni in Taiwan) based on my DUTCH degree and teaching experience. Based on my experience, you won't get any hiccups. If you have a problem, PM me.
