Hi all!

Another day, another school!

I have been offered a contract which wil be based at a university in either Al Jouk or Tabuk.

Salary - $3000
Housing Allowance - $400
Travel Allowance - $133

If accepted, I'd be starting mid January, so there may be the possibility of working at an institution until the start of the new term. This would mean working from Arpx 9 AM-12 PM, then 4-9 PM. Sat-Wed

After asking the question to my recruiter, i got the following response.

Quote:
They want you to start at the University immediately as well to get trained and aquainted with the curriculum and structure. However, there is a possibility you may work at an Institute until the next semester starts, which is in mid Feb. This is dependant on the University allowing teachers to come in at the tail end of the semester, which will be determined closer to the start date.

Do you think this is legit? All opinions welcomed!

Freedom

Edited: Sorry guys, it's all in dollars, the reason being the company pays the equivelant of the SR at that current time. So $3000 is the monthly wage whether the currency loses value or not, i assume. However, the payment will be made in SR.

I don't know anything about this company... but I couldn't help but notice that your payments are in two different currencies -- 's and $'s. Was that a mistake? 'cause 3,000 sounds too good to be true..

The offer is legit, but... read the history of the employer and see if you want to put up with it.

I too noticed the bizarre combination of currency symbols... of which none is accurate since you would be getting this money in SR.

Is this how the ad read or is this your typo?

The offer is legitimate. As far as Saudi goes, Al Khaleej is a pretty decent company to work for IMO. That being said, the conditions depend a lot on your location and the project manager.

Just so you know, the Saudi Riyal is linked to the US dollar at a fixed rate of $3.75. Any fluctuation in your actual wage will be in the exchange to UK currency if you are transferring money home.

Thanks CDAN, i was a little worried about that. I guess this means i won't be losing money if the dollar loses value? (just so i'm sure) -)

I'm not very happy with the split shift. I'm hoping it is just for the first month and then i'll be onto the 9-5 schedule.

CDAN - Have you worked for this organisation before??

Anybody else worked here? Have any experiences to tell?

Thanks all.

The offer is legitimate as is the split shifts. I interviewed with them and I enjoyed the professionalism and the details they provided on every question asked.

The split shift was declared up front as the normal routine, not a temporary set up.

My issue was the location. As a female, I didn't want to be in that area as it's a bit isolated. I spoke to a few other folks about that area and there was very little to do and it sounded too limiting for my first jaunt in the ME

I am working for them! Its really hard to tell to be honest because if you are in an institute then you work god awful hours and they make you work like a dog and you wont be in a compound - just an outside apartment but you will be somewhere more sociable. If you are in a university then you are somewhere crap like al-jowf but you have good hours, save a lot of money and are in a compound. As you like!
