|
|
i've noticed they've just built some public showers/restrooms at la playa chac-mool (down the public entrance to the beach right next to coco bongos & cabana...
i tried to use them today and a young boy told me that they cost 10 pesos... i'm pretty sure i've seen others using them without being approached...
does anyone know if these are free or if the kids trying to make some quick pesos? there are no signs saying free or 10 pesos...
thanks for any info |

You've also likely noticed the one carrying the mop and bucket to clean them. Give her/him 10 pesos regardless of whether or not there's a sign - it'll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Money well spent.

sorry, but no, i haven't noticed that at all... i did notice that he approached only foreigners, and that he got nervous as i sat down on the bench beside the place...
10 pesos isn't cheap, especially when every peso has to be stretched as far as possible (in my case anyways)... one of the reasons i go to the beach is because it's "free"...
i was simply asking if anyone knew if they were free, not whether or not i could be a quasi-humanitarian every time i wanted to rinse my feet off...
regards
ps. sorry if this is a bit pissy, but it feels like you're trying to chide me... especially sorry if this wasn't the case |

The kid is most likely on the hustle, especially if he is only approaching foreigners. That's a dead giveaway and it's annoying. Kids are not usually in charge of bathroom facilities, especially public ones. There is probably a cleaning person around somewhere, and if you spot her (as Dragon Lady mentioned) you could tip her whatever you can afford. If you go there often she will get to know you and understand you are an English teacher and not a rich tourist Ask the kid where his boss is and I bet he will run away..good chance to practice your Spanish on him. |
