Hi everyone, I was an english teacher in Korea for a year and a half and am wondering about where to get started for teaching in Japan.

I understand that JET takes about a year to apply, so because of that I am interested in other possible private school options...etc.

I honestly am a bit clueless on where to begin...applying for jobs in Korea is really easy.

Any and ALL help would be appreciated!!

Start by reading the FAQ stickies. Lots of helpful info there, including links galore on job ads.

If you want more specific info, you will have to ask specific questions, but read the FAQs first.

Look at the top of the Japan forum. There are 2 stickies with FAQ in the title.

yea, read the sticky links, there are loads of sites but i must warn you, it's not as easy as landing a job in korea. especially if you're NOT already in japan.

i'm also a teacher in korea on a year and half. may i ask why you want to head to japan? the experience or money? i'd much rather be in japan but i think i'll have to live more frugal there. until then i'm riding out my contract here and will make another go at it next year.
in my opinion it's a much more beautiful place in just about every way.
