Does anyone know if there is a good swimming pool available to foreigners in Ibra? A hotel pool or...? |

There are 2 swimming pools, I know of, in Ibra.
One at the staff club at Ibra coll of Tech and the second at The Sharquiya Sands Hotel just out of town.
Both are fairly smallish, but OK. |

The Sharqiyah Sands Hotel is at the desert's edge and the pool clouds over in a sandstorm. They clean it (the pool) everyday but don't have changing rooms. |

Ummm... No. They don't clean the pool everyday. The pool is exposed to the elements in the outdoor central courtyard and as such is closed often due to it being too dirty. |

Ah! It's deteriorated then! Maybe it'll pick up during the winter with the tourist season? Sorry for the out of date info. |

Of course, there are much nicer pools down the road in Sur or up in Muscat (good for the weekends) and there's a gorgeous wadi! |

The staff pool at Ibra college has been closed due to students spying on teachers clad in bikinis and the Ibra hotel pool is either green or closed for cleaning due to the sand that blows into it on a daily basis. Also the entire hotel courtyard surrounds the pool so be prepared to be gawked at. Even the European tourists I met there never swam in it. I did see kids in it once though. Also it should be noted that the hotel is far out of town and is not really considered walkable. |
