From bulgogiboy in Jazan:
" . . . . . if you could just post that if anyone is looking for info on JEC-PT and/or Jazan, then I'd be happy to answer their questions."
So, if anyone has any questions, please PM bulgogiboy. If you don't have enough posts to PM, put your questions here, and I'll PM him.
Regards,
John |

Perhaps he could write up a little report for us on the working and living conditions and PM you with it.

Aside from all the negatives, $40K is way down on the salary scale; it is not "pretty good" even for a Saudi college. |

I've now been in contact with 3 teachers at Jazan Poly trying to get some answers to a few basic questions:
1.How is management, any problems?
2.How are the students?
3.How is the institute/course run?
All the answers so far have been vague, evasive, or completely irrelevant.
I've received advice on whether or not I should come to Saudi, been told there's a Herfy's and a McDonald's nearby, and even that 'it's very difficult to have a western style life there'.
The replies included: 'These are very difficult questions to answer', 'it's up to you to research some more' and 'believe only what you are capable of believing'!.
I also recently requested information from a teacher, mentioning that I had found it frustrating that no one could address the questions directly. Still no information, though I was advised that maybe the position wasn't for me, as I needed clear answers.
What is going on over there?!!!!!!

I also would like to know about this institution and the positions. This also is a new ID and I must make sufficient posts. |

I have it on excellent authority that one can be perfectly happy working at JEC-PT if you have an obsequious nature, enjoy the company of informers and drunks, hold no political views to the right of Mao Tse Dong, and you don't mind that students have been demoralized by the managemet of the English program.
Everyone know that the occasional dishonest teacher willl give students copies of examinations before a test, JEC-PT is the only institution I know of where the head of the English department gave marked copies of the mid-term tests back to the teachers and told the teachers that the final examination would be identical to the mid-term.
It makes on wonder why the Saudi censorship banns viewing or posting on Saudi forum on Dave's ESL while inside Saudi Arabia. |
