Hi,

Just a quick question,

I left a job without giving notice--not going to say where, but let's just say that I wasn't going to teach monkeys for peanuts. It was in the middle of the economic crash, a job that I was supposed to have gotten fell through, and took this as a back up. This was almost two years ago.

I am curious if I could return for a different job. This was not a case of I didn't like the country; I just didn't like the school. I have a different passport now, and I am curious if offered a job, would I face any difficulties?

Thank-you in advance,

WS

I suspect not... but you probably won't know until you try it.

Did you leave a bunch of debts behind? That could be the wild card.

No, I was barely there two weeks. Good idea about just applying. Couldn't hurt I guess.

If it has been two years, and you got a new passport I think it should be ok.

As long as you didn't write any bounced cheques, owe a landlord any rent or any car loans, you will be fine.

Give it a go...

I agree with UV, I know someone who left Oman, changed the passport and came back in country two months later and started working for the MoHE almost immediately.

Go for it!!!

About 5 years ago Oman abolished what used to be known
as a 'release' letter.

You only require it now, if you stay in Oman and change sponsors.

You can quit any job that you held less than 6 months without notice and come back with 48 hours notice. You can get your visa cancelled at the airport.

Best to just tell your employer you are leaving and they HAVE to bring you to the airport to fly you home.

Lots of silly Directors or Managers threaten you with black listing etc..but it cost them money to do this and they have to have EVIDENCE that you did something seriously wrong. They just use this threat so that staff will be NICE to them, so they can come back to Oman to work.

Now you just resign, even without proper notice and cancel your visa. You will NOT have to pay for flights or any penalties. Do not believe them.

And what exactly will you do if they refuse to pay for your ticket or final salary, or accompany you to the airport?

If you were there for two weeks, you probably didn't have a resident's card and your visa would have been cancelled when you left.

I don't think there would be a problem.

The sponsor has a legal responsibility to repatriate employees even if they take the money from your final salary.

Stamping one's feet in a petulant manner is also worth a try in such situations! Laughing
