Hello everyone! It's my first post on this site. I guess I'll get straight to the point haha. I am currently looking for an ESL teaching job in Hong Kong. I graduated with a BA in English. I've also received a TESOL certificate from Columbia University. The only teaching experience I've had was as a tutor. I taught English and math to native and ESL students for a year. I also taught advanced learners of English at Columbia as part of my course curriculum. Am I too "green" to get into NET? I should mention that I am Chinese. I've heard that employers in Asia like to hire Caucasians as teachers because they fit the stereotype for being able to speak perfect English. |

End of the day - we don't know.
However, the EdB does.
Send them an application and see what happens. They will be advertising soon and even if they aren't advertising, send them the application anyways cos if they like you, they'll contact you. |

I was wondering if anyone got rejected because of their grades. The EDB is requesting my transcripts from the TESOL Certificate program that I took. I have no problems with this. I've received As and Bs in every class I took except for linguistics. I received a C. It was an extremely difficult course. I'm also wondering if they expect me to receive As in every class. I've heard that the EDB can be quite competitive. |
