It depends on how many applications your GF receives and what the qualifications to move in with her are.
Let us know how it turns out and if you decide instead to go for EF please let us know; maybe some of us might also be interested in sending an application to her if her BF decides not to.
Good luck. |

Thanks for your response.
We will be applying for roles together and moving there at the same time. The reason I ask is basically because I hear that schools hire for the coming month and not for 2 months time. Is this true? Looking at Shanghai to start. |

Apply now so that they can get you the documents you need for a work visa. It takes time for them to get those, send them to you and then for you to obtain the work visa. Otherwise, they may try to get you to come over on a visitor visa and then they aren't invested in you (work documents cost them time and money). See any of the stickies or search under "work visa". Apply now so they don't have the excuse of having to rush. |

Thanks roadwalker I will do that so.
Any recommendations in shanghai? I hear ef is the safest place to start.
Also my gf is Russian but will all the qualifications i.e tefl cert and masters in economics english taught. I may go first and she will join a month or 2 later (notice with work). Is she then best doing the same as well?
Thanks in advance |

Sorry, I've never worked in Shanghai, nor for a private school in China. EF is huge and there are a lot of threads to check out on these forums. I think your gf will have a difficult time trying to get a work visa for Shanghai though. Perhaps some other posters with more direct experience will chime in. There are many foreign English teachers from non-English countries in China, but I think they are mainly in less popular locations (for foreigners) than Shanghai. But I would suggest she apply as early and often as possible if you two are stuck on Shanghai, no matter that she will be delayed a month or two. |

I applied and was asked to specify what position I was most interested in. Can anyone advise the best response so that I can get a leg up, so to speak? |
