I mean really...
Let's just change the days of the week and weekend for the whole country. I find this baffling, but I guess I haven't been here long enough to really get it. |

Here's the background...
Traditionally in the Gulf the weekend - if there was one - was Thursday/Friday. (just Friday for many) This was mainly to avoid the other two religions' Holy Days of Sat/Sun. But the reality is that these countries are mainly in international business and most of the rest of the world that they do business with has a Sat/Sun weekend. These businesses, especially banks, have been complaining for years that having a different weekend affected their business.
So... in the last few years... one by one... the Gulf countries have compromised with a Fri/Sat weekend.
