I am currently teaching 2 full days a week at a kindergarten. I teach ten classes (25 mins per class) per day. Also have to say good morning and good bye to students (i.e. show parents we have gweilo teacher).

It keeps me busy, and I'm wondering how this compares to other people's experiences...

A full-time kindergarten teaching job at one of the many private institutions that is more interested in providing "face" than educational quality (I interviewed for many, and rejected all offers!) would be 8:30am to 5pm, 5 days a week, plus at least one or two half-Saturdays a month.
Whether you get any preparation or lunch time in those hours depends on whether you are required to stay in the room during any lessons held in Chinese and whether they have a yis to supervise lunch.

133 views and not one reply with firsthand experience... surely there must be someone on this board who has taught kindergarten in HK before...

People currently doing the work are too jolly exhausted by the end of the day to even glance at Dave's Crying or Very sad

Oh, and I did survive a year at one of those places (before knowing to reject all subsequent offers) with 39 contact hours per week.

yeah, that's about right. 8.30-5pm and 2-4 Sat a month (half day). They hire faces. Don't look for support. SOme give 2 year olds a dozen books for CW and HW, which the teahcer has to guide their hands to circle the answers...... Rolling Eyes It's a bloody nightmare in my eyes unless u r just in it to play with kids and have a ton of admin work at many schools or are just trying to get any job.

Yeah, sometimes I felt like I was living a nightmare. Needless to say, I've got another job now.
