So I emailed Apollo, however I'd like to be given more information about the school and working for them in general. I'm a new teacher, fresh off the ILA Celta and I am a little green.
What are their resources like (do you have to pay for your own photocopies?) Do they help you assimilate and allow you to watch classes before your start? What other professional development do they offer?
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. |

For some of your questions, why not pop over to the school and see for yourself, that seems quite simple. I dont think there is a single school in Vietnam that makes you pay for making photocopies, but there are some cowboy outfits that dont have a photocopier or controls the numbers that one can make. |

Apollo is a good place for new teachers. It's pretty much the same as ILA but smaller (in HCMC). Unlike ILA, they're willing to offer CELTA graduates full-time contracts straight away (ILA seem to make them wait for a few months). The main difference is the partnership schools, which is where Apollo teachers go and do classes in public schools. I've heard mixed reports about this, but large classes and no aircon seem to be standard. They also seem to have a few more business-English opportunities than ILA.
Personally, I went for ILA because they had the $750 signing-on bonus for graduates of their CELTA. |
