Greetings,

I'm inquiring to see if any of you have taken the CELTA in Bangkok, and more specifically, from IH Bangkok.

I'm looking for the cheapest CELTA package course. Is $2,100 reasonable for course fees and 27 nights accommodation in a studio apartment in the Silom district? I feel like it would be cheaper if I found my own accommodation, what do you guys think?

Thank you.

The centre has 10 computers in 2 rooms. As they advise, if you can it's best to take your laptop if you have one. I never took it to school, but at least I could do my lesson planning & assignments back at the hotel in the evenings. So I never had a computer issue, though I did see that there were traffic jams on occassion!

Free time Laughing??!! Every night I was busy planning lessons and assignments. 1st weekend I did go out to the war cemetaries and to the death railway which was fantastic. That was the ONLY thing I saw in Thailand! By Sunday I ended up with the flu which did slow me down throughout the 2nd week and had a chest infection that I couldn't shake for the entire course. 1st week I also heard of a number of trainees that got sick from street food chicken that really knocked them for 6 as well.

We actually had 2 groups going at the same time, I think both with 18 students. Pretty busy! I didn't sign up til about early- mid December for the January start so I was really suprised when I saw so many people that I still squeezed in!

Advice before starting- get all stationery ready that you want, and decide whether you're a morning or evening person and be prepared to do all your work at that time. Also, don't make yourself a target for the trainers- I'm convinced they were on the lookout for people during the 1st couple of days to 'pick on' and they were pretty much it the entire course! In my group I'm not sure, I believe there were 2 failures out of 18. 1- everyone could see it a mile away!

Although i rate the CELTA as an effective tool kit I don't rate the trainers that much when it comes to observations. I did my CELTA in Poland and the most likeable people got high passes. The trainers did not look up from their laptops when observing me!! And yes they did look for people to pick on tho we all passed.

Incidentally the school in Poland where i got mine has since been struck off IH list. So be careful where you do your CELTA
