It's hard not to notice a new job advertised today in the ESL cafe.

We wish the children in these schools well.

One of our student-researchers has just come back to us with the results of an investigation into this school's website, mentioned in the job ad.
www.Manorhallschool.com

Our researcher investigated this school's mission statement. Here is a tiny example of her report. She simply googled each statement to discover if it was original or if it had been copied from another site.

She was most taken by the statement Develop responsible individuals who possess the ability to think clearly, logically and independently as participating members of a self-governing society
This is because she wondered, genuinely, about self-governing societies in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

When she googled this phrase, she discovered this is the exact phrase used in Shanghai, Nairobi and in a place for Nursery -Grade 5.

Beware, teachers and 'principles'who might be tempted to take up a job offer.

A copy of the Google data she sent me is copied below.

I know nothing of this school, but must say that a place's "mission statement" lifted from elsewhere or not, is almost completely irrelevant to me. I want to know if the management is sane and well-intentioned... and that they follow the contract as to pay and benefits.

Maria - did you seriously think that any of these types of documents in the ME (and in many other places) are original?

Now, a piece of original quality speak would be worth mentioning.

Maybe the same statement was found at all those places because they're all part the same international educational organization. Very Happy

"Monthly compensation of $1600 to $2200" (quote from ESL cafe job ad.)
That's what's offered to teachers by this company.

The 'principle'salary was marginally higher.

Of COURSE they're not part of an internationally affiliated organization.
They'd get their basic spelling right first!

Now they've deleted previous ads. Do a manor search or principle search. They're gone. No matter. We've captured their presence here.
