|
|
Hi all,
I have been offered a job by EF Shanghai (SMART) centre and wanted to get some opinions on it. They have told me that my wife will be able to get a dependent visa sponsored by them but she would not be able to work, is that correct?
Salary: 12,350RMB per month - is this enough to live on in Shanghai??
What is the low-down on EF Shanghai??

No housing allowance but they put us up in a hotel for 2 weeks upon arrival and pay the deposit for us (but we have to pay it back). |

As far as the money goes, if you stay out of nightclubs and aren't filling up on sirloin steak etc every other night you'll probably get by ok. But I don't think you can really know for sure till you find out how much your rent is going to cost. Have you been put in touch with anyone else working at this place yet? That's where I'd be looking for answers. |

I don't think those on dependant visas can legally work, otherwise those visas would be called work visas. One teacher at our school in the past was on a dependant visa of some sort, she had no degree, and no related work experience. But as her husband came on a Z visa sponsored by our school, she was offered a job, she took it, and she earned the same salary as the rest of us. So working on a dependant visa isn't unheard of. |
