You hear from people who work for crappy schools.
Just like most other places, the money is not in the public sector. Go private. Most FT's I know who actually want to work earn between 12-20k+/month....though it depends on the month.
Working most anywhere for 15 hours will get you a low salary without some special quals. or a lot of luck.
Personally, I don't want to work very hard though I don't mind working. My salary range is between 10-17k. The variable being if I want days off. I can have *nearly 4 full days off a week and sit at 10k..ish.
*Nearly being 3 full days off and one day I work a whole 2 hours in the morning.
Not bragging at all, I know *many* have much better situations, just trying to show that not all earn low salaries in QD. Usually it is only those who want to. |

| The salaries for unis and colleges in Qingdao are indeed low. There are a whole slew of FTs who want to work there, so the colleges don't need to offer a lot. |

Hello,
would you mind sharing how you got this job?
I haven't seen any school online offering the conditions you have |
I did not get my current job online and I do not have the same salary or schedule as my coworkers.
The best way to get a job in any city I would imagine is to actually talk to people face to face. The internet is a lazy mans way of finding a job in my opinion. It has it's place and I have used it before but if you are trying to maximize your earnings or want to have other conditions met it is far from ideal.
If you respond to an ad that says the pay is suchandsuch and the hours are blahblahblah.......the school has little incentive to alter anything since you already showed interest and they do not know you from a can of paint. You are just a random pic of a foreigner who looks like a thousand other foreigners when you search solely on the internet.
The first job I had in this city I got online; it was my way into the country and city. When my feet hit the ground I started looking for better opportunities. I ended my contract with that school early to take my current position which has improved steadily. I won't say it was easy and I certainly would be dishonest if I did not mention I had the help of a few locals. There are decent jobs out there if one is willing to put in the effort.
Most of my foreign friends in this city work strictly part-time and earn more than I do. They also work more often and are willing to eat more shit though. There are a boatload of (private) schools in this area. |
