Hello everyone.
This is my very first post.

My wife and I were thinking about teaching in China at the university level.
She is from the Philippines and her English is excellent and I am from the USA...my English is a little bit better than hers Smile
We both have our Master's in education.
I taught for a few years in the Philippines and in Japan as well as at several universities in Korea.

My questions are:
1. If I were to teach at te university level in China what would be a reasonable salary for me to expect?
2. What about my wife (She has some teaching experience in the Philippines)?
3. When do the semesters begin and end in China?

Thanks people!

1. The average is about 5k a month. There are variations, and the masters should allow you to get a bit more.
2. Some Unis may try to pay your wife less or give her more work. Her nationality means she's in a weaker bargaining position.
3. terms start September and after Chinese new Year (usually some time in feb). You should apply about April / May and November respectively, (but most jobs arefor a Sept start).

If this all takes your interest, there are lots (in the hundreds if not thousands) of threads on these subjects for you to peruse.

Ive taught with a couple of Filipino English teachers over the years. Not sure if they were paid at the normal FT rate as they werent native speakers, although good and popular teachers.
Remuneration is a package especially in the uni sector and loads of threads on this. If the search feature is working search package. Also airfare and accommodation apartment etc
