Does anybody know if they need math instructors for the prep program at UCJ? If so, where would I find any adverts and/or whom should I contact?
I looked at their website, but it was not useful.
Thanks. |

It seems their English web site is under construction!!!
They have an online Arabic version of the application form, the link is:

BTW, Trapezius, are you a Math teacher?
Trapezius is a large superficial muscle on a person's back, it forms the slope of the shoulder, it gets its name from its trapezium-like shape.
Trapezium = quadrilateral with two parallel sides
What a nice correlation between Mathematics and Health Science! |

Thanks scot47 and 007, already applied!
I am wondering if I should also apply to PSU...? And I want to apply to KSU and KAAU, but there is not even an employment section on their websites! And the homepages seem like they were made by kids. Actually, some kids could do a better job!
Thanks, already went to their website and discovered the same that you did. BTW, do you know Arabic well enough? I am not bad with it, but I am not about to fill out that form in Arabic!

Don't know about going to a remote small place like that... unless the benefits are exceptional.

Yes.

Haha, thanks. That's the nickname I was given in the US by my friends and workout buddies because of my trapezius muscle (not great on its own, but overdeveloped compared to rest of my body). At the same time, I appreciate the word in and of itself, how it is spelled, how it sounds, etc. And definitely its closeness to the mathematical shape trapezium, after which it is named, because of the muscle's shape. Actually, technically speaking, the muscle looks like the mathematical shape called "kite".
See picture here:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/60/Trapezius.png/250px-Trapezius.png
(imagine other half as well, and you will see the kite)
P.S. I actually do have some background as well in medical and biological sciences, and keep up to date with advances in various biological fields. |

Well, what do you think about a teacher who teaches mathematics and CAD in Arabic?
At least, there are two Mathematicians in this English forum!

Probably you get extra for your salary!
But, you have to watch your area for any suspicious 'air-to-air' missile from the North, or North East of Hafr Al-Batin! |

University College Jubail is linked to Jubail Industrial College and the persons who initiated the purge of Western staff last year at JIC are noe entrenched at this university College.Tread carefully. |

Jimmy Joyce, please, elaborate...
What is meant by purge, and how, specifically, would one tread carefully? Is it simply a tiresome environment? Political and brittle? Please tell us more details if you have 'em. |

If you do a search, you will find tons of information on this situation in the last year or so - and many were pulled because they turned into flame wars.

The use of the flamethrower has become increasingly common on these threads. It was not always so. I blame a particular few posters who I hesitate to name.
Should I now wait for the flames ? |

I read the two threads on the UCJ, and the only additional information I got on "purges" was that several western teachers were dismissed. Perhaps it can't be elaborated on simply out of respect for their privacy. But I did indeed learn a lot more about the situation at UCJ and the history of the schools in Jubail, from Stephen Browne's posts.
What I did not learn was a general summary of what the work culture is like at UCJ, and clarification of the ominous statements about politics there. |

The culture at Jubail Industrial College and Jubail University College is defined by the presence of a small elite of truly psycophantic Brits who connive at frequent purges (knifing) of anyone not in their clique.Last year 40 teachers were terminated one week before the summer vacation.
Tread carefully. |
