I have what I think are some very decent .ppt files on basic writing skills.
They cover the following topics:
Punctuation and style, commas and conjunctions, choosing proper words, proofreading, notes and notices (TEM4 related), preparing an email, restrictive and non-restrictive clauses, qualities of effective sentences, memos, the business letter, rsum writing, biographies, and the five paragraph essay. They're an amalgamation of ideas I pulled together from the internet, our textbook, my own books, my own personal experience in drafting documents in a past job, and in a couple of cases from other members of this forum.
I also have some .ppt files related to the Culture of Western Countries course that university sophomores have to take. I use those in class once the TEM4 has been written (every April), partly to give the students a break from writing but also because they're interesting and I can offer the students a perspective their Chinese teacher can't. I know that a number of people on this forum teach writing, and I'm willing to share these files with anyone who sends me their email (via PM). Further, it would be nice (not mandatory) if you had something to offer in exchange as I'm always looking for ways to improve or new ideas to use in my own lessons. |
