Hi everyone,
I'm considering teaching english abroad and have a few questions about a potential FBI criminal background check.
Almost 5 years ago, when I was 18, I was guilty of one noncriminal charge of disorderly conduct. I was never arrested, and no finger prints were taken. I just had to pay a fine for violating a local ordinance.
My question is: do you think this would show up on an FBI criminal background check? If so, do you think it could be expunged? If it can't be expunged, any recommendations for working around this problem?
Thank you for your help.

Thanks John. It says I can't register for the Korean board until November 16th, so I thought I would give this a shot... |

OP, you might try editing your post to eliminate mention of the country where you want to go, and just keep the focus on the FBI check. (Which it seems to be anyway.) That should get you some answers to your main question, and will probably be found acceptable for this board. |

Get your check and you will know for sure (you are going to need it anyway).
EVERYTHING else is nothing more than speculation.
Odds are that if you were not fingerprinted there is nothing in the national database to compare your prints against.
If is comes back clean you are good to go.
If there is a remark then places like Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan are off your list. Pick another country that will let you pass with a state (or out-of-state) or local level check.

I'll tell you the same thing I told my brother: order an FBI check and see if it shows up. It's that easy |
