Hey all.

I'd like some specifics on this place - near to where I currently work.

I know there are 2 programs or faculties or whatever for the English teaching. As one person has put it to me, there are those who teach the basic English at 'Chinese' rates (ie, about 5000/month), and then there is the Cambridge A Levels Program teachers, who are on 'international' rates (ie, 30K/month +).

Can someone confirm the CALP job? And also, what does doing that entail? Hours, pay rates, holidays, support, actual teaching, etc etc...

Thanks!

First of all, i do not have much knowledge about the city or school in case. However, and as one person has put it to you, there are varieties of jobs for varieties of salaries as well as varieties of expectations. Those expectations may be the hurdle in either your success or happiness. To be clear, i am talking about the expectations from your prospective employers, customers and ultimately you too. You could end up with a low paying rewarding job or high paying unsatisfactory position where you'd feel like a sl*t without any support from your employer or the law, which you'd facilitate bending in all directions.

Yeah, I know IgorG - that's why I posted this - because I want that specific information from those who are now (or were recently) working there... not just general advice on work environments.

The workplace is Hangzhou Foreign language School but the employer is Dipont Education. Dipont run a Cambridge GCE Advanced Level programme at the school. Ive heard that they pay 22,000 RMB for subject teachers (physics, chemistry, biology and others), less for English teachers. The workload is 26 teaching hours per week.
