Greetings All:

Any idea as to the advisability of visiting Japan and attempting to job search while in-country versus emailing applications from the USA?

Help us to help you by providing some basic necessary information:

nationality
age
education
work experience
goal in teaching

Come to Japan to job hunt, and you will have far more opportunities available than if you stay at home, but you will have to plan to support yourself for as long as 3 months before you get hired and a first paycheck. People usually cite US$4000-5000 to bring.

When do you want to start work?
When did you plan to come to job hunt?

Just shotgunning emails from any country will be overall pointless because you usually need to be in the country to get an interview. A few rare places might do it via Skype, but figure the percentages of that.

if you are planning on working in tokyo/kanto, boots on the ground is fine. plenty of work to find as long as you are not too picky. I had one interview from outside japan with an alt recruiter (joytalk) so it can happen. Though they may low ball you, as I was offered 210,000 to live in saitama.
