|
|
Hello everyone,
Back again because it's officially file for my visa time .
Naturally I am being pressured to rush the proccess but the price descepancy is noticable and frankly...do I want to/is it worth it to rush this proccess when the embassy in question couldn't be bothered to answer a simple email or pick up the phone (maybe they're all in the back room working on the expedited visas?)
Anyway here is my breakdown:
PVS
BUSINESS: 360.00, rush- 3-5 days
225.00 regular 5-20 days
CIBT:
BUSINESS: 250.00, rush- 6 days
+ 59.00 = 309.00
140.00, regular- 16 days
+ 69.00 = 209.00
+ HIV test = 264.00 -or- 280.00 / RUSHED: 360.00 +55.00 = 415.00 -or- 309.00 + 55.00= 364.00
Your thoughts for this Russia newbie?
Thank you |

Embassies everywhere are notoriously lazy. The Russian ones are slightly better, in my view, but still don't bother with communications much.
I assume the prices are in dollars, yes? I'd go for the cheaper option. Mainly because your visa sponsor may not ever pay you back, so why increase your potential loss?
Bear in mind that you are coming over shortly before the New Year holidays kick in. That's roughly half of January, so why bother coming before that? Unpaid time in a cold, foreign city where most of your new support network, i.e. the school, will be unavailable...
I do not have all the information, so I may be wrong, but it seems your sponsors are doing something characteristically Russian: they are pushing you to finish something early, to make their life, especially at New Year, easier. Do not think this will work the other way round.... |

Thanks Sasha, yeah I don't really understand the big difference in the grand scheme of things between paying so much for something to be 'expedited' and arrive in say six days instead of fourteen, so unless I can seriously jump some queues I am going to proccess regular This business of arriving before the new year has me a bit confused too. |
