				|
 |
				| I am from USA and I would like to apply for a position in UAE. My question is, "is it possible to apply for a position while being abroad at the moment?"
 Please help. Do I need to go back to my home country to apply for a position?

				| You can apply from anywhere. You need to go home to complete the "induction" procedures of medical tests and visa. | |

				| So are you telling me I cannot get my medical tests and visa procedures done abroad? | |

				| Correct. I don't want to be categorical about it, because there's always somebody who'll come up with a different story. But with 25 years in the UAE, KSA, Malaysia, Japan and Equatorial Guinea at several jobs, ... I've never seen otherwise.
 The nature of work visas for any country that I know of is the same: mostly you're expected to apply from your home country. Apply for the position from anywhere you want, but apply for visas and perform the visa chores from the home country...is the rule in most cases.

 I applied to the UAE from Oman without any US paperwork done (SQU/HCT). I know of people who went to KSA without any involvement of their home country (business visa received in Asia, not official work visa).

				| Depending on the job you apply for, there will be paperwork that needs to be processed back in the US (I believe that's where the OP is from), but you generally don't need to be there in person to do the processing. | |

 ...and I apparently forgot that some years back I went directly from the UAE to a new job in West Africa without the need to return to the US. I still think the KSA is a different matter, though.

				| I've moved around the Gulf quite a lot.
 Oman --> KSA
 KSA --> Qatar
 Qatar --> Kuwait
 Kuwait --> UAE

 In all those moves, I never went home but I just visited the embassies and did the paperwork (e.g., the Saudi embassy in Oman).
