Does anyone have any valuable information; any experience good or bad with regards to Global-ERS in Mexico?

Though I did not ultimately take either job, I went on two interviews that Global ERS arranged for me about a year ago. Both of the jobs were decent paying, one quite well, but after doing a sample class and observing the behavior of the students, I didn't continue the interview process. My impression is that the schools they work with are schools that are mostly attended by the elite, with all the behavior that goes along with that. I do not think this is the fault of Global ERS, you are still responsible for deciding if a position is right for you or not. I felt they matched me pretty well with jobs I was qualified to do. One of the schools was AWESOME in terms of the facilities, I have never seen a school like that anywhere, but I have a feeling you would have earned every peso of that (ample) salary. I think some of the posters on the other thread are holding Global ERS responsible for things that are outside their control. Also, just to clarify, you do NOT pay a fee to them, the schools pay all the fees. If I were interested in that type of job, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Thank you so much for the link and the commentary. I realize that ultimately, the responsibility for choosing a school is squarely on my shoulders. It sounds like Global does its job.

This was mentioned by another poster, I can't remember who now but they said that it's not really necessary to use a placement agency to get a job in Mexico. Better to be here in person, resume in hand checking out whichever city takes your fancy.

They arranged some interviews for me at good schools in Mexico City. Free to use and reasonable communication by email.

I have however found myself a job just by going into schools with my CV... try every way possible to get a job! I would use Global ERS again!

It really varies. I was hired by Global ERS and had only a positive experience. A co-worker of mine, however, was threatened by the lady. She makes a lot of money off of the people who accept jobs through her, so sometimes she just looks for anybody. It is nice, however, to not pay a placement fee. And most of the schools are attended by the more wealthy mexicans, but the pay is not good compared to other schools. Try to bargain before accepting a job.

There was a miscommunication about re-signing a contract so she threatened to not let him cross the border unless he paid her $300. He did go back to the States last Saturday....

Also, I was promised a contract this year similar to the one I had the first year and it didn't happen. Lots of false promises..

Not sure exactly how she would manage that, unless for some insane reason he gave her his passport.

Teachers that are placed through Global-ers sign a placement terms document when accepting a position. There is a $300 usd penalty fee only in two cases a) when canceling or failing to start a position formally accepted and b)when leaving the job without at least 3 weeks notice . nothing is hidden , teachers know and sign these terms when accepting the position. Global-ERS uses this fee for covering administration expenses caused for processing an urgent replacement , which is totally reasonable.
When a situation like this happens, Global contacts the teacher requesting the fee , and when a teacher refuses to pay what was agreed with their signature global lets them know about the possible consequences ... not threatens! just possible consequences for not fulfilling somethng agreed to with a signature , all is in written and very clear.
Global-ERS is a very professional and reliable recruitment agency , they cannot guarantee a position until a school decides to make a formal offer to a candidate , they source to an important number of private schools throughout Mexico and have an important number of openings every year however it is impossible for them to promise a position because they are subject to schools decisions and final word.
Also, Global-ERS is not a "lady" it is a legally registered company that pays salaries and taxes.

I hate to bump an old thread but has anyone recently dealt with Global ERS? A colleague of mine was placed in Cuernavaca in September through them. I was hoping to use them to find a similar job so I sent an email to his recruiter (Monica). I sent the email more than a month ago ad had no response. I sent two ore emails (one to her and one to their generic resumes@ email) and again, no response. I asked my friend if they were still in business and he wasn't sure so he sent them an email and sure enough Monica responded to him within 24 hours saying she would love to assist his friend (me) in finding work in Mexico. I sent her a third email and no response. I finally forwarded my friends email to her (and copied him) and asked her why I haven't had a reply. Nothing yet. My friend replied to both me and her and mentioned how unprofessional this situation has been - he is concerned about recommending them to others.

My only thought is that my resume was not up to par and they decided to just ignore me. At least tell me though - acknowledge my email so I don't think my messages are going to a big black hole.

Anyone else experience such a lack of communication from them? Any other recruiters dealing with similar schools in Mexico?

I also had the same experience....I emailed my resume, to both addresses, and received no reply. I have a BA degree in TESOL, have experience teaching at an international school in Mexico, and speak fluent Spanish, so I can't imagine why they didn't reply to me! I agree....it is quite unprofessional.

I know quite a few people who have used Global ERS and they have nothing but good things to say about them. (And these are people who aren't afraid of complaining.)

I, however, got my job just by emailing a zillion schools and being available for an interview the next day.
