|
|
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your continuous help with the advice. I have gotten several job offers at Chinese Universities (all outside of Beijing and Shanghai).
1. Can you tell me how the Chinese negotiate with job contacts?
(I know they view negotiation as different than Westerners. Some of them often try to bargain very low and hope we accept.
I want to be assertive about telling them what conditions I'd like, without being rude or off-putting).
2. To me, the biggest thing is
a. Being able to teach material, rather than do just grammar drills.
b. Having an "exit clause". I know natural disasters happen, schools go bankrupt, family illnesses, etc. even to the best companies and the best firms.
I'd want a way to get a plane ticket home, should anything unexpected happen and I need to visit family for some emergency.
3. What resources do you guys use for due diligence? (BBB, word of mouth, forums, etc.)?
Thanks |

Google "SAFEA" and look at their "standard contract".

And/or post on the China boards below. Greater numbers of China-savvy posters there. |
