Hello everyone.
I am desperate for a job in HK. I have a degree in TESOL and a CELTA I have also just completed the DELTA. Does anyone know of any schools hiring or have one yourself?! I am willing to pay for my visa , work nights an weekends and for 20000HKD OR even low as 18000. I have 4 years experience and am a qualified IELTS examiner
PM me if you can help.
Thanks |

My advice as I am in the same boat looking for a job in HK, been applying for months from overseas with no such luck and from what I have gathered its best to look for a job in person on the ground in HK, so you can interview in person. Your qualifications seem quite good and you might want to look into applying for the NET Programme at http://www.edb.gov.hk/index.aspx?nodeID=1300&langno=1
I don't know if you are there in Hong Kong in person or overseas at the moment but start applying through Jobs Db http://hk.jobsdb.com/hk and SCMP at http://www.classifiedpost.com/ and go from there. There are plenty of other posts people have posted you can find info on also.
Good luck |

Depending on your desperation, take a lower paid job with as short a contract as possible (may have to be a year). Get to HK then look around for better ones. There are often iffy jobs from approx. 14K - 18 on tefl.com. There's one now - English Excel - 'Applicants must have a first degree, at least 5 GCSEs including English & Maths and preferably hold a T.E.F.L., C.E.L.T.A. or other teaching qualification.'
EDB NET is good, but a slow process of hiring. BC is ok and you seem qualified |

May I suggest you look into the VTC. They are hiring but I imagine the positions will start in August 2012. The money and conditions are good. |

There's plenty of IELTS work here and I know some people who survive on that alone, but you won't be able to do any IELTS until you're settled in and visa'd up.
Do you have QTS? If yes you should certainly apply for the NET programme, and probably worth applying even if you don't as I heard that for primary NET (PNET) they accept non-QTS applicants (if you can hack teaching kids). NET will be advertising soon for next September's intake (if they haven't already done so - check online).
Otherwise, I agree with the advice to come here and apply on site, and make enquiries/set up interviews in advance - but if you do this you'll need around 2-3 months' worth of money to keep you going through the job search/visa application period. |

Is it possible to leave during the work visa application process, or is it required to actually remain in the country and wait for the duration?
I read that there is a 'sticker' for want of a better word, that is eventually put in the passport.
Many thanks |
