Hello all,
Greetings! I read some time ago that the cost of a work visa was supposed to be going waaaay up. App. 20 USD to 200 USD. ** Can someone tell me what the actual cost is now? I had read that there's a shortage of ESL teachers in the Kingdom and the Thai F.L.I. employer's were wondering why? ** Also, I wondered how long can American citizen's visit Thailand visa-free..and if I was to get a tourist visa..for what time period would it be? (and what would be the cost?)
Thank you! |

I reread the old posting and oops my mistake. I meant "work permit",not work visa.

The Thailand work permit now costs 3000 baht [about 75 dollars] per year as far as I know. There was talk of making it 10,000 baht but that hasn't happened yet. You should ask your prospective employers if they pay for the work permit or at least share the cost.
Unless things have changed Americans get 30 days of visa free travel. A tourist visa is good for 60 days, but I'm not sure about the current cost but it's not especially expensive, somewhere around 23 dollars.
I'm sure the Thai embassy or a travel agent could tell you the exact figure. |
