Does anyone know where I can find information about the best and worst public schools in Japan? Basially Kansai area is what I want to know but I want to know where the best schools and worst schools in the area are especially elementary and junior high school. Obviously it could be very subjective and I think the main thing I want to know is reputation for roughness or bullying for example I hear that Kishiwada is a place with a really bad reputation.
Any help you can give is welcome. |

Um...
I'm not quite sure I get what kind of information you are asking for. I guess you are asking for a ranking of student behaviour in Kansai area schools? |

I'd contact the teacher's unions and have a chat with them. They're most likely to be up front about perception/reputations for that. |

In my neck of the woods the prefectural test results for the annual standardized test are printed in the local newspaper. If your library keeps old newspapers hanging around it should be easy enough to find the results of previous years.
Alternatively you could do drive-bys of the schools in the area and see how haggard the teachers out on their smoke break look.
And dont expect any school to openly air their laundry. My schools get uncomfortable just because I can follow along at the morning meeting. Often I am asked to leave if they need to discus recent shoplifting or other student/faculty problems. You can bet they wouldnt tell you freely that the school has been set on fire by the first years, or that the last teacher was transferred due to a lecherous staff member. |
