Hi everybody,
I am relocating to Qingdao from Chengdu. I have been offered this teaching position in Qingdao. I would like to have some info on the city.
For example where to do foreigners and chinese hang out together? bars.. clubs... etc....
Are there alot of foreign students?
Is the city clean?
Is the food good?
Can I find a Carrefoure there?
Are the people friendly?
Names of some Training Centers so that I could find some part time work.
Any other info would be appreicated.
Thanks in advance.

I thought Qingdao was clean. Also lifeless. I knew friends there, but would not say the place was friendly. I thought living expenses were greater there and in Dalian, then in Shanghai.
I am talking actual living expenses (assuming they pay the lodging). Of course Shaghai has much more to spend money on. I think I would be bored in Qingdao. It was clean, though.
Wasn't impressed with the food. |

I agree with the food -- it's not as good as that around Shanghai/Jiangsu/Zhejiang. However, it is good (much better than Chengdu food, IMHO, but I really hate Sichuan and could live my life on fresh seafood).
I recall there being a number of foreign tourists there (about the same as Dalian, though Dalian had more Russian tourists [and students, for that matter...]). I preferred talking with the Chinese there (especially the hothothot guy who worked front desk at this wangba) and found them to be nice, but that's just one person's experiences.
Oh, and clean. Very clean. IIRC, the beaches were were cleaner than those in Dalian (ahaha). |

Re QD:
Once you get away for the sea-side part and german area, it deteriorates rapidly.
Over-rated 4 SURE!
And swim in that water - yikes it's green !
Still the air is cleaner than ChengDu but that is hardly saying much.
But then again China is not the place to come for blue skies, is it?
