This may be a ridiculous question.
How hard it is to get around in southern spain w/o being able to speak spanish?
I am coming over to Seville in July for a Celta course and would like stay in spain, preferably Seville area.
Taking into acccount that I only speak English, how difficult is it getting started? For example, getting an apartment, a bank account, getting directions, going to the doctors?
How about taking an into Spanish course at a community college before Ileave, does anyone think this would help? |

I lived in Spain for a year, specifically in Valencia, and from experience I can tell Spaniards have a hard time speaking and understanding English, probably more in cities that are not the biggest.
However, you always get around somehow in a country where you don't speak the language though you might have some difficulties. Taking a Spanish course wouldn't hurt......... |

I might do the program too (only if I get into Madrid).
I was wondering if it was easy or difficult to make friendships with locals there.
I can carry myself pretty well in Spanish without assistance, but I still know that some places have warmer and colder locals when it comes to getting to know them. I've never been to Spain before and I haven't had problems relating to Spaniards while traveling. I'm just thinking that they probably get so many tourist that the locals might not want to have anything to do with foreigners |
