Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any info or experience on teaching in the Maldives? More specifically, teaching at The Four Seasons Resort? I saw a job advertised there and it initially sounds great but I've never seen or hear anything about this kind of position and can't help but be a little suspicious. I know very little about the place apart from what I've googled. Actually, I wasn't even sure which forum I should post this one. They don't give away much in the ad so it would be great to hear from anyone who has heard or experienced this kind of work or teaching in The Maldives!
Thanks!

I know a couple of people who lived in the Maldives - one a teacher and one the son of a senior expat police officer - and they both hated it. The place is fundamentally Islamic and any fraternization between locals and foreigners is actively discouraged. By government design, these luxury resorts exist in almost total isolation from the country proper (which is not particularly friendly or hospitable to infidel outsiders anyway). Living in one may seem idyllic from a distance, but I would imagine it could get old/claustrophobic fairly quickly, and you would have few other outlets available to you. |

Paradise gets old fast.
Wouldn't touch a resort job like that with a bargepole. |
