Hey guys,

I know these questions have been addressed in past -but just wondering about the paperwork requirements when getting a work visa approved by MoM or Ministry of Higher Education...

Assuming one shows up on a visitor visa and brings all their required documents, they still need to switch over to a work visa... is there EVER a need to give the MoM or Ministry of Higher Education my original degree or passport for any length of time to get approval for the Work Visa??

Or the super-stamped copy will do? Just want to know this before leaving so that when i stick to my guns on this -I don't start a shit storm over a degree.

But can't say I EVER want to give these up.

Also answered on the other thread. No reason to ever let your original documents out of your hands, but your passport will have to go to the Ministry for a stamp. How long it takes your employer to do this will depend on their efficiency and the time of the year.

It is NOT a big deal and certainly not worth making enemies and a name for yourself from the beginning.

Sounds good, VS.
Practices vary from country to country. Good to know exactly what to expect, and what to put up with.

Good advice about not handing over any original documents (except your passport when it needs to be stamped). Under no circumstances should you give the original copies of your certificates or degrees to anyone in an official capacity in Oman. These are not needed as certified copies will suffice.

I've heard too many stories of 'lost documents' in Oman...not worth the risk!
