Do you mean the Beijing Institute of Technology in Zhuhai? If so, it's in a fairly remote district in Zhuhai, but it's a pleasant location. (I work in a college nearby).
Transport will get better later this year when the high speed train link is completed - there is a station just opposite the Institute. It will connect with Gongbei downtown , at the border with Macau. Now it takes 1 hour by bus.

You can find the institute on Google maps.

Very close to this place:-

Zhuhai Golden Gulf Golf Club

Zhuhai Golden Gulf Golf Club is an 18-hole 72-par plain golf course that was opened in October 2003. It covers an area of over 395 acres and the fairways are 10,870 yards. It is thirty minutes' drive from both downtown Zhuhai and Zhuhai ferry terminal, which makes it a very convenient court to get from Hong Kong. Among the 18 holes on the court, only three of them require the golfer to hit across the lakes. Thus it is a nice court for the average golfers. A range of excellent amenities including a big restaurant offering both Chinese and Western food are provided for golfers to fully relax and refresh themselves from the stressful work and life.

Address: Jinwan District, Zhuhai, Guangdong Province

The golf-course is '30 mins by car' from the downtown according to the Zhuhai Govt website, and 10 mins to the airport. I have never visited that part of Zhuhai, but you should reckon at about 45 mins or more by bus to the centre.
Being out of town can make shopping and socialising a real pain (and expensive). From my campus to downtown is a 50-70 yuan taxi fare.

From the photos on 'coach develop' it looks like a brand -new campus. The salary of 5-6K yuan for 16-20 class hours seems low for Zhuhai. Livable but not generous.

I live in Zhuhai. Honestly, it's not what I would call a 'crappy' area, but that depends on your definiition of the word. It's a long, long way from anything apart from a bunch of factories. The buses from there to the more interesting parts of the city are almost always packed to the gunwhales with people going to the aforementioned factories. It will cost you a lot of money in taxis if you plan staying out in the fun places later than 10:30 pm, assuming you can find a taxi to take you out there.

If you're happy to buy a car or a motorbike or a decent scooter and don't drink when you socialise it should be fine.
