What is good about living Jeddah?
What is good about living in Riyadh?
How do they compare?
Beaches in Jeddah?
Opportunities for earning silly amounts of money teaching privates?
Expat activity? |

Jiddah has beaches and a more relaxed lifestyle. The people are Riyadh are Negdis - mainly strict wahabis while Jiddah was an indepedent kingdom run by the Hashemites until the Brit and Yanks played the power game and gave it to King AA on a platter. Lost forever. The Asiri people are more open-minded and cosmo as coastal people tend to be. Riyahd is populated mainly by bedouin tribes and is massive. Wadi Hanifa, however, is a great place.
So take Jiddah if you've got a choice.
The "Belad' or old city is an amazing place. They are finally preserving some of the fine old buildings but so many were torn down to make way for modern concrete blocks. A real shame but there is a wake-up call to preserve what's left. |
