This just in...S&P downgrades debt of 9 eurozone nations, including France, Italy and Spain. French debt cut from AAA to AA+. |

Just out of curiosity, does ANY nation still have a "top rating?" And if not, doesn't that mock the whole point of such ratings (which, after all, would, I think, have to be relative?)

John,
According to Standard and Poor's ratings, within the Eurozone there are only Germany, Finland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg left with AAA ratings, and the last three of those are on "negative watch". That means only Germany is regarded as stable in the Eurozone.
Other countries with AAA ratings are Australia, Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, Liechtenstein,Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
Curious that six of those ten are in Europe... |
