Has anyone been recruited as an English Teacher with Phoenix Business Solutions? They've been advertising for English teacher jobs in Abu Dhabi.
What are they like? Are they relaible? The salary they advertise for is quite quite high 40,000 pounds.

How do you smell scam? I smell it high wages, no reputation, no track record. If you wish to pursue this, do NOT send any $$ do NOT send any info that could be used in identity theft.
If you must pursue it, draw them out - no real employer requires you to pay anything for anything up front in the UAE |

Over $5000 a month? And I suppose that they ask for a BA/CELTA/one year of experience? Is there a website that ends with .tk?
Helen1 hit it on the head... just the salary shows it to be a scam. (unless they require an MA and 5-10 years of Middle East experience...)

Thanks nomad... fits right into my "unless" category.
What do you want to bet that they are recruiting for HCT?

Promote life-long learning
student-centered approach
Actively participate in professional development activities
Cooperate and take-part in program quality assurance procedures
Sounds like right out of the HCT BS book. |

50,000 p.a at HCT!!!!!!?????? Yeah maybe if you're a local.......expat telfer teaching foundations, I don't think so bud......
With the cancellation of the diploma programs and being in direct competition with UAEU et al for BA programs HCT are expecting to have a huge drop in student numbers for 2012-2013.
They are shedding staff left right and center and not replacing them, no 4% this year, performance bonus long gone, cut backs all round, you think they're gonna be bringing in 62 teachers on 24,000AED a month plus all the usual benefits!?!
This ain't no HCT ad.........and since when have they ever used a recruiter? |

50,000 at HCT??? I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my tree!
The key term in the ad: Annual package of GBP 50,000+. Maybe if you include the housing cost and utilities...maybe.
The whole thing sounds squirrelly to me.

"The key term in the ad: Annual package of GBP 50,000+. Maybe if you include the housing cost and utilities...maybe"
That's what I was thinking. Plus tickets, school fees, etc, could add up to 50,000 GBP.
I just calculated my salary, housing, tickets and school for one child and it works out to well over GBP 50,000.
If it is HCT, maybe they need recruiters now that they have such a sour name.
Just saying. |

The details would actually fit HCT, and they have been talking about using a recruiter. |

Yes, I can confirm that using a recruiting agent has been discussed by HCT senior management, so this is probably the outcome.
How sad that in the space of some 5 or 6 years, HCT has gone from being one of the most favored employers in the UAE to a virtual pariah, having to recruit staff clandestinely.
All honors for this remarkable achievement should go to the VC, (Mod edit for names) Kamali, of course!! |

Actually, I got my job at HCT ( yuck! just puked up some nuts over that memory) several years ago through a recruiter in the UK.

Tsk, tsk, on using full names. Best to refer to him by his honourary title:
