I recently applied for a school in Nagano Ken called M.E.C. and I was wondering if anyone has heard of it. I want to thank everyone who wrote to me about Lingo School and M.I.L. I have a second interview with M.I.L., so M.E.C. may be out of the question for me, but the idea of living in Nagano Ken is very attractive to me.

Unfortunately I don't know of any MEC in Nagano, but since I already had a job when I was there I didn't really look to closely at the competition. As for the region itself, Nagano-ken is beautiful. There really isn't anything like waking up and seeing the mountains in the morning; the land is mostly flat otherwise, so if you buy a cheap bike with no gears you won't struggle too much getting around.
Zenkoji Temple in Nagano is exquisite, and so too is Matsumoto Castle, about an hour away by train. |
