Hi! I'm an American native based in Warsaw Poland and I'd like to teach in Saudi for 2-8 weeks this summer.

Does anyone know of summer courses which run between July-Sept?

I've got CELTA, DELTA, CELTAYL and 4+ years teaching experience in Poland and Thailand.

Obviously, I'd like to earn some better money (Poland doesn't pay so well). I'd also like to see if Saudi is something I could do for a longer stint in the future.

Any help appreciated!

Basically summer courses in the Gulf are rare as hen's teeth. All the locals who can, get the heck out while the place is an oven.

I've never seen such a thing advertised... the shortest contracts are normally one year. It is too expensive bringing in teachers to bother with short-term contracts like this.

Perhaps one of the abusive chain language schools like Berlitz, et al? Pay won't be all that stellar though... not in Gulf terms...

Don't hold your breath. Even if it were somehow possible to get a "legit" teaching gig for that short amount of time, it wouldn't put you ahead financially since you'd most likely be responsible for your visa fee, the cost of your return airfare, and whatever other expenses the employer won't cover. And then there's Ramadan, which begins on July 21 this year.

Summer employment in KSA won't happen because of the logistics of visa issues. Employers prefer to use business and work visit visas for new hires. The expense involved means that what summer employment there is will be for current employees, or new employees starting a longer contract. The work around is to apply for a longer contract and then quit within the first 90 days, as provided by law.

You will need to consider the reputation of the employer carefully since all do not pay promptly, unless you truly want to come to KSA to experience the cultural richness of a place with temperatures of 40 C, no alcohol, and needing to go to the shoping mall to see nonmuslim women walking around without their hair covered but still wearing abayas.

Yes, this is why I'd only like to commit to a short gig for the time being.

I've lived in Thailand before and the heat doesn't bother me so much.

I'll have a look a look at other countries.
