Hi guys, (first post, pity to complain but it's intriguing.) I seem to have heard a comment once, and I've just read something cryptic which makes me wonder if the reason my fingers - especially on my right hand anyway - are numb and peeling...(god I hope that's all it is) is the chalk! Am I crazy? I've used chalk before, but maybe this is a different batch...anyway I've shown a few students and, let's face it, last time I went to the school clinic complaining of 'stomach' pain they sent me home with two aspirin and I fainted (4 stitches in my forehead). Is there something I should know about the chalk, and does anyone have any suggestions? It's going to get a bit clammy to be wearing gloves...(PS, who cleans your blackboards?)

not sure about the chalk,
but you can always buy a big ol' white board and bring it to all your classes...

It could be an allergy. Rub a llittle chalk dust on your arm to see if it reacts.

Some teachers fashion a little chalk holder from cardboard - something like a cigarette-holder. Wash your hands after contact.

If that doesn't help, you could move your investigations to the chopsticks, I guess ...
