Hi everyone,

I was just offered a position in Isesaki Gunma with RCS. I was just wondering how the area is. I didn't really find that much information on it. Also anyone know what the transportation system is like? Ideally I would like to find something in Kanagawa close to Atsugi. So would it be pretty easy to travel between these two places?

I also have an interview with NOVA in a few days. I think I want that one more since it has places closer to Kanagawa but if I don't get that one I'll probably just go with RCS. They want me to be in Japan by March 16th. I applied for JET so still don't know if I have the interview yet.

Isesaki would lie on the rural end of the scale for Kanto. If you are looking for somewhere with easy access to atsugi, then you'll probably want to keeping looking, as its about a 3 hour trip.

In terms of transportation in general, a bicycle would definitely be your friend in Isesaki, if not a scooter or car.

Ah, Thanks! That helps a lot. What about just going with RCS and trying to find something in Kanagawa later?

Well, that is certainly one option, assuming you are happy with spending your initial time in Isesaki...

I guess it depends on why/how often you want to be able to go to Atsugi! ^^

I would not go with RCS. Not a good company overall.

Thanks for the assist. From what I have heard/read about them, only Heart and Borderlink are worse than them.

TS, RCS in most cases won't pay for your transportation costs. Now, that can be a big deal. I very rarely, in all the places that I've worked, have spent less than 15,000� a month of transportation. They sometimes even make you go to schools that are incredibly far away, as it doesn't cost them anything to inconvenience you.

How is the new NOVA btw? I haven't met anyone who has worked there since it was bought out.

I knew some RCS ALTs in my old city; they were not happy. One in particular told me and my JTE a particularly nightmarish storey about how he was asked to sub in a city in a completely different area of the prefecture for a couple of weeks. His transportation costs were going to phenominal but, as rxk22 pointed out, RCS don't pay for transport.

When he approached the company for assistance, they said that his salary already included a transportation allowance and that they would not give him any more. They also told him that he was obligated to accept the assignment.

He was getting 240,000/month for everything. No transport, no overtime or compensatory time off if he had to attend meetings or do additional tasks. I remember a couple of ALTs complaining at one JH meeting that they they received no pay during breaks... don't remember which company they worked for, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was another RCS complaint.
