Hi all,

It seems better to apply directly to the institution than go through an agency; however I have heard pay is better through an agency (of course benefits, housing and work load may make up the difference here).

What are the best agencies to use? Any thoughts, ideas, experiences out there?

Thanks

Who ever told you that applying for a job through an agency is better than direct hire is just plain misinformed.

Think on it for a while....direct hire means you do not have to deal with a middle person (agency). The money agencies make from getting you to sign on the dotted line comes out of YOUR pocket more often than the employer's not to mention, there will always be some sort of compromise that will not benefit you, but rather the agency and/ or the employer.

No matter how they like to dress it up, there will usually be some undesirable 'catch'.

Do yourself a favor and apply directly to the institution when ever possible. There are just too many horror stories of recruiters/ agencies that suggests to me anyways, that going through these 'middle' men/women is a bad idea.

I have never used an agency or a recruiter to land a job and yes it may require more effort on your part, but I think you will fare much better in the long run.
