When I was in Cambodia (I know---snore), there was this cafe at which many of my colleagues passed their time. They would frequently pop out to the pharmacy for a fix of this, that or the other. One guy would even send his taxi driver to collect his pharmaceuticals--ketamine, in his case.

My point is, does anyone in this cafe have any methadone? I gotta break the Dave's habit--I have work to do, for goodness's sake! -- but cannot stop posting pointless mesages into the ether. Ether.. now there's an idea...

Can anybody help?

Dear khmerhit,
You gotta go "cold turkey", man (and I don't mean you should check out the "Turkey Forum"). Pull the plug on that old computer. Do what I'm going to do, starting tomorrow morning: head off into the wilderness where there's no traffic, no computers - heck, no goldarn electricity.
Regards,
John
P.S. But - hooked as I, too, am - I'll be back.

Talking 'turkey', it seems dmb is doing 'cold turkey' perhaps due to the fact that he is 'in' Turkey', as he hasn't been seen in Daves' for the past, what is it, almost five days now. He has just left the Middle East which could explain kicking the habit; on the other hand, you, John have been gone for ages and are still posting. Explain.

Not doing cold Turkey. I just don't have email at home yet. So I have to actually leave the house and go to a cafe. It's such a hassle!

Well, I'm not quite sure whether 9 months qualifies as "ages" - but regarding why I'm still posting, that's easy: I'm hooked. Yet once again the "geographical cure" hasn't worked.
Regards,
John
P.S. Besides, there's no local chapter of DA here (Dave's Anonymous). Anyone want to post his/her phone number, so, whenever I get the uncontrollable urge to go on-line, I can give him/her a call, instead? Of course, that might happen at 2 or 3 am, his/her time.

K.
There is a shameful solution to your dilemma. learn to lurk a little more and post a little less and see how many people write your postings for you. in this way you only have to post the ones you really want to. I think...but then you still have the pointless responses to read.

You stole my signature! I am an enigmatic figure who pops here and there...based in China.

Many apologies.
Who stole?
Me or he? a bit strong buddy, throwing around accusations like that, borrowed..yes, I might get upset or something for merely reducing Kmerhit to a single utterance and confusing him with a fictional character created by Franz Kafka, which was the inference intended by the use of the diminutive 'K' and the associated pursuit of answers. Sorry if I slipped on the one you are also using. Pure chance, could have happened to anyone.

I'm considering having my phone cut off so I'm forced to frequent internet cafes like poor people and backpackers. I use my mobile for all my calls anyway, so it's only for the internet and it's a total time bandit.

Fortunately I can't surf at work, so I'd be free of it's evil clutches.
