My boat has finally come in -- smaller than I expected but still not too shabby. It took months of practice, revising my CV countless times, reading websites about university's language programs, studying grammar/methodology books, and watching YouTube videos on job interviewing.

After doing the following, I can say that I'm happy to find work in KSA.

33 distinct universities applied to in the Gulf
10 job interviews (5 via Skype, 3 F2F, 2 phone)
48 job interview questions asked (some repeated)
8000km travelled (one-way) for a F2F job interview

This doesn't mean I will abandon this lovely teaching community @ Dave's. I'll still need to keep up-to-date with folks like VS, and others.

Wow! Glad to hear your persistence finally paid off.
May I be the first to say congratulations. I hope the job works out for you.

Congrats, man.

I admire your perseverance.

This must be some job! Either that or you don't have a lot to offer.

Are you a bottom-feeder like me? Or is this a real job?

I'm sorry to say but I won't be joining you, Ultraman, but I intend to stay in the West Coast (not California but KSA).

I think it is a good job. I wouldn't call it a bottom-feeder job but it is entry-level in the field (except the salary isn't entry-level). The housing situation is not completely clear but I'm sure it'll work itself out. I'm trying something different. If I like it, I may continue. My cousin started out doing this kind of work and is now a manager of it (not here in KSA, though).

Maybe I should start a blog in job interviewing skills for TESOL professionals. On the other hand, one only has to a job interview once every few years so maybe.........
