Hi all,

I've got a Motorola Atrix I bought here in Korea. Had the long contract, but I'm moving on to Japan. I'm going to be stuck paying for the phone, so I need some options. Selling it here before I leave will be near worthless; I will get peanuts for it.

I heard at our interview that smart phones from abroad will not work in Japan. Is this true? The guy from the company said that some dude from the US got a huge bill for using an Iphone from the US. They said he even used a Japanese SIM card.

So what's the deal? My wife checked online here and some Koreans were saying that you can use the phone in Japan as long as you use the Japanese SIM card. Or is it just better to start over by getting a phone in Japan?

One more question. If I do just go with a new phone from Japan, what kind of plans are there?

Thanks.

The three main carriers here Docomo, AU and Softbank all have fairly decent English sites you can look at.
