Hi everyone! I am going to be studying in Buenos Aires in the spring of 2013 to get credits towards my Spanish Education major. However, I figured that it would probably be a good idea to get my TESOL certification while I am there!

Are there any programs that you would recommend? I've looked into this one and it seems pretty good: http://www.tesolcourse.com/ Have any of you gone through this company, and if you have, could you tell me about your experience?

I'm looking to stay under 2,000 dollars for the program and I would like it to take no longer than a month.

Thanks for your help! Very Happy
Katie

Right!

Certificates are a dime a dozen. The CELTA is the real powerhouse. It is a symbol of knowledge and great training. It is about a month long.

Think of it this way...

TEFL certificate=Wrangler jeans

CELTA= Levi's

Cool

Good comparison.

Ummm . . . not really. It's an incorrect analogy. A CELTA is a TEFL cert. It is one particular brand of TEFL. The most recognized TEFL certification, but still a TEFL, nonetheless.

So if you wanted an accurate analogy, and you wanted "Levi's" to represent CELTA, then "jeans" would represent TEFL certs. Not Wrangler jeans. Just jeans. Wrangler jeans would represent another brand of TEFL cert, such as Trinity or SIT. Or perhaps the TSYP, the Teaching by the Seat of Your Pants cert. Laughing

Jean analogy aside, I think I got the point Wink

I found a CELTA program that is a little under 2,000 dollars in Buenos Aires, so that's not much more expensive that the one in the link that I posted.

http://ih-buenosaires.com/celta.php

But that doesn't include the test that you have to take to get certified for CELTA -at least I don't think so-. Does anyone know how much that is?

Why not just email the training center regarding additional costs?

The only widely recognised alternative to CELTA is the Trinity TESOL.
