Hi,
I can't find anything on this school.They claim to be the 'largest and most recognized English training organization in X'ian.' I have an interview with them soon so just wanted to check them out.
I did a search but only found a post from someone about a year ago asking about them too. He didn't get any replies so I have no reason to think I will either, but if you have heard of, worked for or know anything about it I'd appreciate it!

Currently, I live and work in Xi'an at a university. I would HIGHLY recommend not going to a training school. Usually, they are private schools and ALL of them say they are the best in the city. There are probably close to a thousand of these schools here in Xi'an. Most of them treat their staff like a piece of meat and you might work some long hours as well or have some problems with your salary.
Working for an actual school is definitely better in the long run. |

Xi'an is the armpit of the earth! Esp if you are living outside the city walls.
In fairness it is a decent place to go for the weekend, the city centre is ok and the Terracotta Warriors is a must see.
However to live there, just don't bother! It is a dirty, stinking, heavily polluted place. The same has to be said for neighbouring Shanxi and Henan.
Go South it is much better.
I had a friend who worked in Xi'an Siyuan private uni which is right on the outskirts on an industrial mountain.
It was hell on earth, coupled with the fact the uni are bad payers, give terrible accomadation and give you a curfew as well! |

They're another chain school in Xi'an. They have a few offices around the city. Most do. Size doesn't really matter. Speak with teachers working there but be aware that its in their interests that you sign up with them. It will likely lessen their own number of classes.. From what I have heard they're not terrible. Some complaints, but then every school will have some teachers complain about them.
The point to notice is that this school has been in operation for a few years so they have regular foreign teaching staff. It can't be all bad if thats the case. Just go in with your eyes open.

I'm hitting my third year here, and while the pollution affects some its not quite as bad as people make out. You just have to get used to being able to look directly into the sun without a problem. Plenty of other cities both north and south have the same issues. Actually, I've found that the pollution is less this year than last year.. but i guess that could be just me getting more used to it.
I live outside the walls to the east. Most of the major entertainment is inside the walls or to the south. But I love where I live because I can be on one of the ring roads in 2 minutes and be around the city faster than those inside the walls.
TBH, You sound like you've only experienced Xian as a tourist.. Personally, its my favorite Chinese city. People aren't as jaded with foreigners like most other cities in China.

Not all the schools are that bad. They're branches and as such have different management. Some are good, some indifferent, and some awful. Anyone looking at chain schools just needs to be careful with their contract, and make sure from day one, they're not walked over. This forum has plenty of advice on how to deal with that.
My first job in Xian was with a language school and I had a bad time of it. I'm now much happier with my university and private work. But... I have friends who are very happy with their own jobs in Aston or EF. Everyone has their own needs/expectations... |

| Royal has been around for a while. The advertise a little here. I have nothing bad about the school and the fact that they don't advertise means they are retaining teachers or getting teacher to recommend other teachers. |
