I was hired by a recruiter for a university gig. All well and good.
However, after submitting documents to a third party visa agency and waiting the suggested number of days, I was informed that due to an unnoticed error in the visa sponsorship letter, my visa could not be issued by the embassy in London.
I was then promised a replacement visa sponsorship letter within a certain time frame - again, the firm did not make good on its promise nor give an adequate explanation. I have now accepted an offer from a rival firm, albeit a lesser offer.
Has anybody had this sort of thing happen to them? |

Gig is the term used by most discerning tefl miscreants as a means of jazzing up their staid ignoble existences.
Thailand is good but not for the moment.

I am suspicious as they mentioned varying start dates at different junctures and have not given me satisfactory explanations when things have failed to materialise at agreed times.
I read on here about a teacher who was hired for a GIG in Abu Dhabi who had his start date put back repeatedly by a couple of weeks at a time until he gave up four months later.
Not good. |

As of five years ago, only Al Falak was 100% reliable. Nowadays, errors are increasingly common. Neither direct hires nor recruiters can be relied upon. Many institutions and recruiters and visa services are either incompetent, inefficient, or uninterested in doing their jobs. Almost all could care less about the effects they are having on the lives of the people they contract. If you are not Muslim, many Saudis will have contempt for you. Promises mean little for the strictest Muslims. If they tell you that something will be done and it is not done, God decided that it would not be done. They cannot tell a lie about the future because God decides everything. That is why Saudis are always smiling. Nothing that they fail to do is their fault. |
