According to this recent job ad on Dave's
http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/index.cgi?read=45073
and I quote directly....
"*** Candidates who have worked (or are currently working) in Saudi Arabia are now required by the ministry of Education to provide the following:
• Performance Evaluation
• Final Exit
• No Objection Letter"
If true, this is a significant new set of requirements for former teachers in KSA seeking to return.
We all know what a No Objection Letter is but what exactly a "Final Exit" and "Performance Evaluation" are, seems to be anybody's guess.
The important questions are whether this is true or not and how one could verify all this.

The 15% cut for providing you with furnished accommodation that the employer gave the recruiter for free is a nice touch, too. |

I wonder if they have the capability to track down those who have done runners from KSA. New passport? No mention of the KSA job, so who would know? It would be more of a hassle for those who left on good terms, but were not given the documents or did not ask for them.
Final exit is the paperwork to leave KSA and be repatriated. However, who keeps it once the final payment drops into the bank account and it is transferred to the home account and the boarding pass gets you into your comfy seat flying out of KSA on a one way ticket to anywhere.
Performance Evaluations have been around for only a few years in the Gulf. I've had two done over the last two years. It can be a discussion with your supervisor about goals and objectives in your teaching and professional development. It can include a classroom observation, and you usually have to reflect on the previous goals and what you can do for the future. Therefore, you could probably substitute a classroom observation if your university had not been doing performance evaluations. |
